Another Sick Day

I set up email posting, and I'm trying it out right now. I'm on my Gmail instead of Blogger. Haha. My background on Gmail is some sort of ninja thing, and its pretty cool. When I star a convo or single message, I get a ninja star! I love ninjas. They're so cool.
Anyway, I've had a sore throat on and off for quite a while, but along with an upset stomach and headaches, it's just too much. I'm all achy and weak, but I'm not complaining. I let in a Bingo, and he's accompanying me through my sickly activities like a good little boy.
I finished off the box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and then considered a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. I looked around for quite a while before realizing that we had NO PICKLES. What am I supposed to do without pickles? Sure, I could have a bagel, but that hardly compares to a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. The only other cereal we have is Raisin Bran, which is not exactly my favorite. Poor me.
I read a lot of Treasure Island today (getting started on that 9th grade Honors reading list already!), and slept a lot, too. I might play a bit of N64 or write. Of course, I'm gonna have homework to do, but I figure I can wait until my usual school dismissal to get started on that. Whatever. I'm tired and need to nap. See ya, internet explorers.

Today, something amazing happened.
And I just had to post.

My good friend came to school today with a petition titled "Friends Against Patch Fischer’s High School Transfer".*

There were 19 signatures before I even knew it existed.

In first period, all of Leadership and most of Eagle Service signed.
Even a few kids that wandered over from Yearbook grabbed a pen.

We had 87 before fourth period.

At one point, we had a line of willing kids, and it wasn’t just eighth graders.
A lot of seventh graders signed. Some sixth, too.

The whole school talked about it, and I had people I hardly knew come up to me and say, “These are my friends. They want to sign, too.”
There were 200 spaces on the petition, less than half of which we thought we could fill.

We had to draw in some extras.

What happened today was incredible. If someone had told me a month ago that we could do this, I’d laugh.

Sure, the petition didn’t have the effect we’d hoped, but still. 201 middle schoolers decide that this was worthwhile. That, despite the fact that they were in different groups, grades, or whatever, they banded together and did something. I know it affected us, at least. We’ll remember this day, even if it didn’t work as planned. I'm proud of what we did. No matter the end result.

Now, more than ever, I feel like anything is possible. Yay.

*the petition title was slightly different, and has been changed to keep locations and names secret.

words of wisdom

Someone very wise once told me, "Hey, you dropped your pencil." Sure, it wasn't Shakespeare, but they were right. I had, in fact, dropped my pencil. The words were quite helpful to me, too, because we had just sat down for a test and without that pencil, it would've remained unfinished. What a tragedy.

A bit more interesting: today my friend Stephen simply stated, to no one in particular, "Imanya is made of sunshine and potatoes." How true!

I do like potatoes...

Sick Day

Yes, I'm sick. I stayed home yesterday too. Sure I feel way worse than yesterday, but this can just be thought of as a writing opportunity. I can write all day. Guess who has time to post on her abandoned blogs?

I've started a new story today, too. It's incredibly action packed so far, and it's coming along quite nicely. I can even try to figure out what to do with the family I've created that's so sweet I can't bear to do anything bad to them. Oooh! Oooh! I can try to get further on Sharpshooter!! Seriously, I started it in, what, fourth grade? Sure, I've done mounds of editing and nearly trashed the original storyline, but I'm only on chapter two!! That's just lame.
